Sort a nursing document file by the requirement each item addresses
A London nurse can encounter several separate credential processes. Organize the file by purpose so a professional licence, health-care certification and academic evidence are not mistaken for interchangeable documents.
Bring the actual offer and citizenship evidence for the TN assessment. Identify which listed qualification is being relied on. A hospital name on the offer does not eliminate the need to examine the role.
WHAT THIS GUIDE COVERS
- Start with the proposed professional activity
- Identify the federal certification separately
- Track practice authority on its own line
Keep citizenship, professional registration and U.S. status separate
Canadian permanent residence and professional registration describe different aspects of an applicant's circumstances. Neither should be treated as proof of Canadian citizenship for a TN case.
Use passports and other appropriate records to describe the citizenship actually held. Mark any pending Canadian citizenship process as pending. A professional licence issued in Canada does not change that distinction. TN principal eligibility requires Canadian or Mexican citizenship; Canadian permanent residence is not a substitute.
WHAT THIS GUIDE COVERS
- Identify current citizenship
- Describe qualifications accurately
- Assess the opportunity using the real combination
Review a co-owner agreement before treating the share split as control
An E-2 partnership review needs the real decision-making arrangement, nationality and funding. A numerical ownership split does not describe every right or restriction affecting the proposed investor.
Identify voting, management and deadlock provisions, including side agreements. Ask the transaction adviser to explain how they operate. The immigration review should not rely on an ownership summary that omits material restrictions.
WHAT THIS GUIDE COVERS
- Read the decision rules
- Trace nationality and contributions
- Assess the enterprise itself
Describe a regional management position without losing the new-office requirements
A regional title can obscure who actually performs the work. Explain the responsibilities and supporting operation clearly when preparing an L-1A new-office proposal.
Identify decisions and responsibilities, including work carried out by local teams. A broad remit does not prove that the role is primarily managerial or executive. Keep routine operational duties visible.
WHAT THIS GUIDE COVERS
- Show what the manager will direct
- Support the one-year plan
- Retain actual results
Compare a regional leadership offer with a co-owned business proposal
These opportunities involve different facts. Describe the proposed job and the proposed investment independently before comparing immigration options.
Identify the related entities, foreign work history and proposed responsibilities. Explain actual authority rather than relying on the regional title. The L assessment needs the organization and employment conditions as well as the job.
WHAT THIS GUIDE COVERS
- Document the corporate-transfer facts
- Document the co-owner arrangement
- Compare the decisions each requires
Plan family work and schooling around each person's actual status
A principal applicant's job offer does not establish every family member's permissions. Record the activity each person intends to undertake and the documents relevant to their own position.
Do not infer permission from a shared travel booking or household address. For TD, E or L dependents, assess the qualifying spouse and unmarried children under 21 individually. TD does not authorize employment; qualifying E and L spouses are authorized incident to valid qualifying status with appropriate evidence, while children do not gain work authorization through that dependent status.
WHAT THIS GUIDE COVERS
- Distinguish the dependent work rules
- Include timing and age questions
- Track the underlying documents
Compare inherited investment funds with the Gold Card government's gift terms
Inherited money may be part of a funding history, but it does not make EB-5 and Gold Card the same arrangement. Compare the governing requirements before deciding which proposal to explore.
For EB-5, use the petition-date minimum: currently US$1,050,000 or US$800,000 for a qualifying targeted employment area or infrastructure investment, with statutory adjustments from January 1, 2027. Assess at-risk capital, management or policy participation and ten qualifying full-time jobs per investor under the applicable method; eligible derivatives do not need separate principal investments.
WHAT THIS GUIDE COVERS
- Understand the EB-5 investment
- Understand the government gift
- Examine the personal record and later steps
